Building Teamwork Outdoors With W.L. Gore and Associates

W.L. Gore and Associates develops amazing fabrics that make outdoor living and working so much easier. That’s why we thought it was so fitting that their Bike-A-Thon™ workshop took place outdoors!

Giving back to your local community is always fun when it involves the hands-on activities that go along with building bicycles. When everyone gets into the mode, there’s an energy there that’s hard to ignore. Call it teamwork or call it the power of positive change. Either way, we love to harness that energy and put it to good use helping teams get stronger.

But when we happen to run a Bike-A-Thon™ workshop in an out-of-the ordinary location, all that energy is multiplied. That was the case for this summer’s event with W.L. Gore and Associates, who chose a local park in Newark, Delaware for their bicycle building event.

W.L. Gore and Associates Builds Bicycles as Part of their Annual Sales Meeting

What brought this group together was really the annual W.L. Gore and Associates sales meeting. This multinational manufacturing company is based in Newark, DE, where they started up shop way back in 1958.

Best known for inventing Gore-Tex fabrics, they make outdoor living more comfortable and outdoor sports more “breathable”. They also manufacture specialty fabrics for firefighters and the military.

Giving Back to Newark

58 years is a long time to be in business, and the city of Newark has been home to W.L. Gore and Associates the whole time. For a company that started out in the Gore family basement, they’ve come a long way. Bob Gore, son of the founder, has received multiple awards and was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.

What all that means to us is that this company sure must know a lot about teamwork! In our eyes, it’s what keeps a company together and keeps it vibrant and innovative. Well done!

The bicycles built that day went to local Newark kids, via the Greater Newark Boys and Girls Club.
